Equity has confirmed its first House Agreement with Hull Urban Opera.

Equity has confirmed its first House Agreement with Hull Urban Opera.

The Agreement ensures that professional performers and stage management working with Hull Urban Opera are protected by the terms of the Equity House Agreement, which includes guarantees around minimum levels of pay, working hours, holiday provision, and other areas.

Signed earlier this year, HUO used the agreed terms for the first time in their new production ‘At the End of the World Party’.

Commenting, Dominic Bascombe, Equity Official for the North East, Yorkshire and Humberside, said: "We welcome this agreement with Hull Urban Opera as it represents a positive step forward in demonstrating the value of professional performers working under a recognised union agreement.

“Professional performers working at Hull Urban Opera will have the benefit of an agreement that is working towards best practice in the industry.”

Russell Plows, Director of HUO, said: “HUO has always aimed to be a friendly and inspiring place to create work and an Equity House Agreement provides a further reassurance that we will treat performers well and value their time with us.”
