Building accessibility information
Outside access
The entrance is directly on the corner of Upper St Martin’s Lane and West Street. We have two large automatic doors that are large enough for all wheelchairs including power assisted ones. There is a slight slope from the entrance to the reception.
The pavement outside is level, and does not have a gradient. Where West Street meets Upper St Martin’s Lane, the road is flush to the pavement curb, and there is no step down.
Step free access
Our office is entirely step free and accessible to wheelchair users.
Visitors to the building can access meeting rooms on the ground and first floors. There is an accessible toilet in the basement. All three floors are accessible via a lift.
Lift
There is one lift located just off the reception, through an automatic door, that services all floors. There is a button outside the lift to call it, and inside the lift to direct you to the appropriate floor. There is a screen both inside and outside the lift informing you which floor it’s currently on. The lift announces which floor you have arrived at, and that the doors are opening and closing.
The lift doors measure 80cm across and 198.5cm high when fully open. The inside of the lift is 115cm2 and there are 4 spotlights that light it. It will comfortably fit 4 people standing or 1 wheelchair user.
Toilets
- One accessible toilet in the basement accessed by a lift.
- Individual, genderless toilets on the stairwell in between each floor. These are accessible via stairs.
- Two toilets in the basement accessible via a lift.
All the toilets have grab rails.
Changing places toilet
The two closest changing places toilets are at The National Gallery and Victoria Embankment Gardens. Read more about changing places toilets, and what they offer, on the Changing Places website .

- Leicester Square Gardens (on a lead)
Induction loops
There are integrated hearing loops in all our three largest meeting rooms and at reception. We also have a portable Audio Frequency Induction Loop System (AFILS). This is kept in reception and can be put into any meeting room as required.
Noise levels
The communal area can become quite noisy if there are lots of people there. The reception is a relatively small space and the ceiling is quite high so it can echo when busy.
Reception
The reception desk is low at one end and is accessible to wheelchair users. The photo below shows the reception desk directly on. There is a variety of seating available if you need to wait.
The reception area has spotlight lighting.
What to do when you arrive
When you enter the building, there is a reception desk located in front of you, to the right. The receptionist will assist you to sign in and give you a visitor’s sticker.
The receptionist will direct you to the appropriate meeting room, or call your Equity contact who will come down to greet you. You are welcome to wait in the reception area to be met.
If you require any assistance, the receptionist will be happy to help you.
If you have any further accessibility requirements, please let us know before arriving at the building so we can make necessary preparations.
