Arts education in this country is in crisis! The National Theatre have cut 100% of their funding to their primary school touring department, and the Sutton Report has found that young people from working-class backgrounds are 4 times less likely to work in the creative industries compared to their middle-class peers.
The TUC Creative & Leisure Industries Committee is hosting a meeting, free and open to the public, to discuss these issues and find a practical way forward. Speakers include Ed Harlow (NEU), Dave O’Brien (Manchester University), Christina Paine (UCU NEC), and Michelle Gregson (NSEAD - National Society for Education in Art and Design)
